STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND PRIORITIES Strengthening protection and meeting essential needs through cash assistance During the first half of 2026, UNHCR continued to expand Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) as a preferred modality for delivering timely, dignified, and protection-sensitive assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugee returnees.
