Afghanistan: Evolving Trends Afghan Asylum Applications & Recognition Rates in the EU+ July 2026

This paper analyses trends in Afghan asylum applications and recognition rates in EU+ countries between January 2021 to March 2026. The analysis is based primarily on Eurostat data,¹ which is used to calculate Afghan application trends and recognition rates in the EU+. To contextualise and interpret these trends, the paper also draws on analysis from the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA), incl
